Langdon Award

The Langdon Award was the idea of the late Brenda Langdon. It was first awarded in 1990.

Her wish was to acknowledge the contribution to calisthenics that young coaches give to the sport.

Below are the Karilee coaches who have had the honour of being awarded the Langdon Award.

2018 – Meredith Jackson

At the 2018 Cali-ACT Championship Team Competition, Merry Jackson was awarded the 2018 Langdon Award for ACT Young Coach of the Year. Merry has coached at Karilee since 2014 with Tinies from 2014 to 2016 and for Sub Juniors from 2015 to 2017. Before moving to Junior in 2018 as a co-coach.

2013 – Jessica Costigan

At the 2013 Cali-ACT Championship Team Competition, Jess Costigan was awarded the 2013 Langdon Award for ACT Young Coach of the Year. Jess was the principle coach for the Karilee Junior in 2013.

2010 – Kristin Marshall

At the 2010 Cali-ACT Championship Team Competition, Kristin Marshall was awarded the 2010 Langdon Award for ACT Young Coach of the Year. Kristin was the principle coach for the Karilee Junior in 2010.

2002 – Liz Arnold

Liz (Elizabeth) was the fourth Karilee coach to be awarded the Langdon Award. Liz received the Langdon Award after many years as the coach of Karilee Juniors Team.

2000 – Jodie Sims

In 2000, Jodie was the third Karilee coach to be awarded the Langdon Award. Jodie received the Langdon Award in her fifth year as the Principle Coach of Karilee Seniors Team having been originally appointed as the coach in 1995, while still a participant in the Team.

1998 – Kate Arnold (Kate Watson)

Two years later in 1998, Kate was the second Karilee coach to be awarded the Langdon Award.

1996 – Rachel Alexander (Rachel Holdway)

Rachel was the first Karilee coach to be awarded the Langdon Award. Between 1993 and 1996 while still participating in Inters and seniors, Rachel coached the Karilee Misses (now Tinies) and Sub Junior teams. In 1996 when Rachel was received the Langdon Award, she participated in the Karilee and ACT National Representative Seniors teams as well as coaching both the Karilee Misses and Sub Junior teams.

Coach Excellence Award

Calisthenics ACT values the work and dedication of their coaches and consequently each year offers a “Coach of the Year” award.

To be eligible for the award, a Coach must be nominated by an ACT Calisthenic Club. It was first awarded in 1995.

Below are the Karilee coaches who have had the honour of being awarded the Coach Excellence Award.

2018 – Jessica Costigan

Jessica Costigan was the twenty-fourth ACT Coach to be awarded the Coach Excellence Award in 2018.

2012 – Kristin Marshall

Kristin Marshall was the eighteenth ACT Coach to be awarded the Coach Excellence Award in 2012

2009 – Liz Arnold

Liz Arnold was the fifteenth ACT Coach to be awarded the Coach Excellence Award in 2009.

Liz had been coaching for twelve years with the Karilee Juniors when she received with this award. In 2009, Liz was the principle coach of the Karilee Juniors team.

Liz coached the Karilee Juniors from 1998 until 2008 with her sister Kate Arnold.

2005 – Kate Arnold (Kate Watson)

Kate Arnold was the eleventh ACT Coach to be awarded the Coach Excellence Award in 2005.

In 2005, Kate coached the Karilee Juniors with her sister, Liz Arnold. The team were ACT Champions and runners up in Ballarat.

Kate commenced coaching with Karilee Juniors in 1998. Most of the years between 1998 and 2005, the Karilee Juniors team were ACT Team Champions. The team was also Runners Up in Ballarat multiple times.

Kate continued to coach the Karilee Juniors until 2008 with great success, then she coached the Karilee Intermediates team for 5 years until 2013.

2004 – Jodie Sims

Jodie Sims was the tenth ACT Coach to be awarded the Coach Excellence Award in 2004.

2003 – Jaci Craig

Jaci Craig was the ninth ACT Coach to be awarded the Coach Excellence Award in 2003.

2001 – Rachel Alexander (Rachel Holdway)

Rachel Alexander was the seventh ACT Coach to be awarded the Coach Excellence Award in 2001.

Rachel commenced coaching with Karilee Sub-Juniors in 1993 when she was 17 years old. In 1996, Rachel was an Assistant Coach for the ACT Sub-Juniors Rep Team and the following year she coached the ACT Juniors Rep Team.

Rachel had been coaching for eight years with the Karilee Sub-Juniors and was also an active State and National volunteer when she received with this award.

1999 – Ann Craig

Ann Craig was the fifth ACT Coach to be awarded the Coach Excellence Award.

Ann was the founding coach of Karilee and was a very active participant at both the State and National Associations especially with the Skills Program.

Ann had been coaching various age groups for 18 years when she was presented with this award.
