Developing our dancers and coaches through Competition…

Karilee Calisthenics believes that competitions are both fun and rewarding. We compete in Team competitions and we encourage our participants to enter the Solo Competitions.

We believe that competition develops life skills that will be valuable in the future. Life skills such as working in a team, striving to be the best you can be, developing confidence and style, and learning how to win gracefully and loose with good sportsmanship.

The competition experience is introduced gradually starting in the Teenies/Tinies Age Group.
Here we encourage the children to:

  • have fun
  • dress up and perform for their family and friends
  • learn to be part of a team

Being part of a team helps to develop spacial awareness through remembering the routine and trying to keep in time with the rhythm of the music and other team members.

As the children improve their skills with age, they are more able to master routines and understand the concept of team work in competition.

Why do we compete?

Competing in competitions is fun as well as character building.

We encourage all our teams and members to:

  • BE THE BEST THEY CAN BE and
  • STRIVE FOR A PERSONAL BEST PERFORMANCE

each time they appear on stage.

Local competitions

Local competitions are organised by Calisthenic ACT and comprise two solo/duo competitions, and two team competitions. Each year Karilee is proud to provide an additional competition the Karilee Solo Competition for all Soloists from the ACT and interstate.

Interstate Competitions

Karilee provides all age groups from Subbies and above, the opportunity to travel interstate for competition. This gives the girls an insight into high level competition and provides a wonderful bonding time for participants and parents who take advantage of this opportunity.

Prior to 2020, Subbies, Juniors, Inters and Seniors to travel to Ballarat in Victoria for the annual Royal South Street Eisteddfod held at Her Majesty’s Theatre. The Tinies teams are assessed year by year to decide if an interstate competition in Sydney would be a valuable experience as a team.

In 2023, the Karilee Subbies, Juniors, Inters and Masters teams travel to Frankston in Victoria for Longbeach Calisthenics Competition. Our Seniors team travelled to Victoria for a Calisthenics Competition.
